ABOUT MATT PERRY

At a young age, back in St. Mary’s, Georgia, Matt was driven to the racing world. Being from South Georgia, racing naturally took its course when his father took him to the local dirt oval tracks at the age of six. Ten years later, he would become an amateur drifter across North Florida and begin Drag Racing throughout his high school years. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy, becoming the 4th generation to serve in his family. He currently serves and spent his first tour aboard a Navy destroyer to Asia and South Pacific. Outside of the Navy, Matt continues his passion in Motorsports. He expanded his drifting skills at Willow Springs Int’l Raceway and trained in Super Late Models at Irwindale Speedway. He has also completed in SCCA Autocross for two years. In September 2017, Matt made his first official stock car race debut in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Meridian Speedway, making history by becoming the first enlisted U.S. Navy Sailor to compete in NASCAR. Here, in his first race with Patriot Motorsports Group, he claimed a top 10 finish as a rookie. With that Matt raced Super Late Models as well as Modified’s in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in 2018 on his journey to become approved for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. This was unfortunately delayed when he was involved in a life- threatening car wreck in June 2018 that tore the PCL Ligament in his left knee. On the road to recovery Matt is looking forward to racing Dirt Pro Late Models, ARCA Menards Series, and the NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series in 2020. Outside of racing, Matt has also been featured by Front Stretch Media, We Are The Mighty, Kickin’, The Tires, and local news outlets in South Georgia as well as being featured in Navy media outlets.
